About Us

Imara is an online therapy provider, offering mental health counselling and coaching at times that fit your schedule- before or after work. We offer online counselling and coaching for adults, both individuals and couples. 


We are here to support you in facing challenges, making choices, and finding balance in your life, on your schedule. The word Imara, is a Swahili word meaning resilient and grounded. It captures our belief that with the right support, you can meet life with steadiness, clarity, and a deeper connection to yourself and those around you.


We offer a carefully curated network practitioners who work integratively, drawing from approaches such as nervous system-informed work, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), trauma-informed therapy, somatic work, Focusing, parts work (IFS), expressive arts practices, breathwork, and mindfulness-based therapies.

FAQ

  • All sessions take place via Zoom, so you can join from anywhere. All you need is a quiet, private space and a stable internet connection.

  • This short call gives you a chance to meet your practitioner of choice, ask questions, and see if their style and personality feels right for you. There is no pressure to book a full session afterward.

  • Yes, a number of our practitioners work with couples of all orientations and structures. If you are hoping to strengthen communication, navigate conflict, or reconnect more deeply, couples sessions might be a good fit.

  • All sessions happen via video calls using Zoom. You can join from anywhere. All you need is a quiet, private space and an internet connection.

  • That is something you and your practitioner will decide together. Frequency depends on your needs, goals, and availability.

    • Individual session: $165 NZD per 50-minute session

    • Couples session: $255 NZD per 90-minute session

  • You will need to check with your health insurance provider if counselling and/or coaching is covered under your policy. You will have to pay at the time of your booking and claim this back from your insurer. If you need an invoice to support your claim, please Contact Us to request this.

    • Cancel with 48+ hours notice: Log in to the Client Portal and cancel your session. (Refundable)

    • Cancel with less than 48 hours notice: Email your practitioner to request cancellation. (Non-refundable)

    • Reschedule with 48+ hours notice: Email your practitioner to reschedule your session. (No charge)

    • Reschedule with less than 48 hours notice: Email your practitioner to cancel your session, then log in to the Client Portal and book your new time. (You will be charged for the session)​

  • We use Zanda, a secure online system where you can book sessions, manage appointments, and make payments. Once you have connected with a practitioner, they will guide you through the setup.

  • Step 1: Navigate to the Client Portal
    Step 2:

    • Returning clients: Enter your email address and password to log in.

    • New clients: Click ‘Register’ and complete the form with your first name, last name, email address, password, and mobile number. Once submitted, select "Get verification code" -  a code will be sent to the email address you provided. Please allow up to 2 minutes for it to arrive, and don't forget to check your junk/spam folder if it doesn't appear in your inbox. Enter the verification code to complete your login and access the portal.
